Check

    • Assess the scene

    • Check Responsiveness

      1. Shout

      2. Tap (collar bone) & shout

Call

    • Call 911, or tell someone to call 911.

    • Send bystander for First Aid Kit and the AED.

Care

    • 30 compressions & two breathes

      • Minimize any pauses! When switching between breathes and compressions.

      • Remember:

        • In adults depress the chest AT LEAST two inches.

        • In children depress the chest ABOUT two inches.

    • Repeat performing 30 compressions & two breathes cycle five times (two minutes total).

    • If another CPR-trained bystander is available, switch at the end of the two minutes cycle.

Continue Until...

    1. Paramedics take over.

    2. The subject shows obvious signs of life.

    3. You are too exhausted to continue.

Infant CPR

Check

    • Assess the scene

    • Check Responsiveness

      1. Shout

      2. Tap (bottom of foot) & shout

Call

    • Call 911, or tell someone to call 911.

    • Send bystander for First Aid Kit and the AED.

Care

    • 30 compressions & two breathes

      • Minimize any pauses! When switching between breathes and compressions.

      • In infants: Depress the chest 1.5 inches.

    • Repeat 30 compressions/two breathes cycle five times (two minutes total). You should switch with another CPR-trained bystander at the end of two minutes if possible.

Continue Until...

1) Paramedics take over.

2) The subject shows obvious signs of life.

3) You are too exhausted to continue.

AED

  1. Immediately turn on the AED!

  2. Get Access to chest

    • Cut away clothes

    • Dry chest (shave ONLY if needed).

  3. Place pads

    • Remember:

    • Pads cannot touch

    • Pads should not be over jewelry or medication patches

    • You can use adult pads on kids, but not the other way around.

    • If two trained people present: Place pads around compressions. Don't stop compressions if you don't have to!

  4. Follow the AED's prompts.

  5. Stand clear! During analysis and during shocks.

  • Make sure no one (including yourself) if touching the subject while the AED is analyzing or shocking.
